Back in the day, most of us could recognize (and hum) the title of the Sunday Night Mystery Movie, and Masterpiece Theatre, and we all knew the Edward Gorey visual sequence. But what about today’s mysteries? Title sequence design has gotten wildly creative, but a certain style has emerged that just says Cozy Mystery.

Is it egocentric to feel a little puffed-up when they’ve selected ones I’ve always known and liked?
Personal favorites: Irma Vep, which conjures up pop culture, the silent Les Vampires serial, the 1996 title movie & the HBO series simultaneously, against that awesome World Beat soundtrack – brilliant – and Slow Horses montage, with that unexpected Mick Jagger theme song from outta nowhere.
I just knew they were better than usual. And they always put a smile on my face and a tickle in my brain.
And I’m only getting started poking around in the list…!
I LOVE the opening titles for Bookish. And opening titles in general 🙂 The opening titles for Good Omens (not a cozy, I know) are up there for best of all time. 😘
